OLLIE C ACREE
Ollie C. Acree, age 93, of Salem passed away Thursday. Born in Enfield, NC, he was the son of the late Walter B and Melissa Dickens Acree. Mr. Acree owned and operated Acree Pontiac which was located on Rt. 49 in Quinton Township. He played high school football and went on to be the star quarterback for Gilford College, Greensboro, NC; he also played baseball and basketball. Mr. Acree was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He and his late wife were members of the Salem County Country Club for many years.
Mr. Acree is survived by his cousin, Doris Driscoll & husband Ronnie of Quinton; his niece, Joan Grillo & husband Vince of Wilmington, DE; and brother in-law, Norman Harris Jr., of Woodstown. He is predeceased by his wife, Lucetta and nephew, Norman Harris III.
Graveside services will be held 10 AM Tuesday, May 12th in Salem County Cemetery, Pilesgrove. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Gilford College, Greensboro, NC 27400. Arrangements are by Woodside Funeral Home, Salem.
