Ruth E. Asson of Southampton passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Virtua Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lumberton. She was 87.

Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident.

She was a longtime member of the Burlington County PTA, and Order of Eastern Star.

She was very active in the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Holly and later the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Vincentown.

She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Umstead and H. Sterling Asson Jr.; sister of the late Donald Atwood, Earl Atwood, Kenneth Atwood and Harold Atwood.

She is survived by her two daughters, Karen Mauel and Evelyn Brock (Fred); a granddaughter, Jessica L. Mauel; a brother, Raymond Atwood; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the Crosswicks Cemetery, Crosswicks-Hamilton Square Road, Hamilton Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 2212, Vincentown, NJ 08088.
