Zathur Cushing Copley, a highly respected resident of Aitkin county, died unexpectedly Sunday night at his home in Wealth wood of valvular heart disease. He had been in his usual health up to the day of his death when he complained of not feeling well and lying down on his bed he expired a few hours later before a physician, that had been summoned, arrived.
Mr. Copley was born in Wayne county, West Virginia, May 10, 1847, Thirty five years ago he moved to Minnesota and settled at Kimball, Stearns county. Three years later he moved to Aitkin county and had lived at Wealthwood during that time. He was a Civil war veteran of Company M, 3rd regiment, West Virginia cavalry, and also a member of the local G. A. R. Post.
Rev. H. F. L. Tool conducted the funeral Tuesday afternoon at the community church at Mud Lake, where burial was made.
Mr. Copley is survived by his wife and eight of their thirteen children. They are Altison D. Copley, Mrs. Minnie Bushey, Wm. F. Copley, Jos. D. Copley and Mrs. Elsie L. Rither of Aitkin county; Fred V. Copley of Minneapolis, Robert I. Copley and Chester A. Copley of Canada.
