BANGOR and VEAZIE Randolph S. Adams, 85, died Sept. 13, 2011, at a local nursing home. He was born Oct. 27, 1925, in Lincoln, son of Phillip S. and Madge L. (Knights) Adams.

Randolph graduated from Mattanawcook Academy, Lincoln, Class of 1944, and the University of Maine, Class of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, 1944-1946, and saw combat service with the 86th Infantry Division in the European Theatre, and later in the Pacific Theatre on the Philippine Islands. Randolph spent a few years in the educational field as teacher and coach, followed by 30 years as a salesman for W.H. Shurtleff Co., Portland and Brewer. He was a member of Horeb Lodge No. 93 AF & AM, Lincoln, since 1949, and a member of Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. Randolph served on various committees and boards in the city of Brewer, library trustees, board of zoning appeals, and Brewer Housing Authority. Recently he participated as a volunteer at Cole Land Transportation Museum, Bangor, and enjoyed all aspects of the museum.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Beverly V. Morley. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Ida Florine (Robbins) Adams of Bangor are his children, Marie B. and her husband, Steven Durant, of Hampden, Debora L. and her husband, David Sprague, of Hendersonville, N.C., Susan A. and her husband, James Duffey, of Scituate, Mass., and Elizabeth J. Adams of Boston; grandchildren, Nicole Beaulieu of Bangor, Adam Beaulieu of Vail, Colo., Brooke Nason of Hampden, Eric Sprague and Colin Sprague, both of Richmond, Va., Kevin and Erin Duffey, both of Scituate, Mass.; and one niece, Sabine (Morley) and her husband, Allen Burnham, and their son, Nathan Burnham and his wife, Linda, and daughter, Abbey, of Portland.

Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln. (Bangor Daily News posted 9/14/2011)
