CARL P ARMBRUST
The community was deeply saddened on Sunday, when Carl P Armbrust, a World War veteran, passed away at his home on Westphalia Road, after having been ill for several months.
He was thirty-eight years of age, and is survived by his wife and three children, Virginia, Arline and Walter; also by six brothers, August, Rudolph, Alfred, Water, Herman and Herbert, and two sisters, Mrs Richard Charters and Miss Frieda Armbrust, most of whom are residents of Mattituck.
Carl was known to be a devoted husband and father, and his grief-stricken family has the heartfelt sympathy of everyone. He served in the US Navy for some years, received his discharge, and again enlisted to do his bit in the World War. He was a man who was well like by all for his fine character and good disposition, and was a steady and industrious worker.
His funeral services were conducted at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church Wednesday afternoon, Rev Wells H Fitch of Sound Avenue, officiating. His comrades of the Raymond Cleaves Post of the American Legion, of which he was a member, bore his body to New Bethany Cemetery, where he was laid to rest after the usual military services were performed at the grave, and taps were sounded.
