Eugene Melvin Bolatto, 73, of Bonfield, formerly of Essex, passed away Monday (Jan. 21, 2013) at Provena St. Mary's Hospital in Kankakee.

Gene retired from Azzarelli Construction Company and was a member of Laborer's Local 751, since May 8, 1964. He was born Jan. 28, 1939, in Joliet, the son of Stephen and Ellen Marie (nee Dunn) Bolatto. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, and he enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Surviving are his wife, the former Judy Clark, of Bonfield, whom he married May 6, 1961, in Custer Park; one daughter, Gina (Adam) Phillips, of Kankakee; two grandsons, Drake Milk, of Bourbonnais, and Gavin Phillips, of Kankakee; two brothers, Vince (Geneva) Bolatto, of Essex, and Steve Bolatto, of Braidwood; and two sisters-in-law, Alberta Bolatto, and Betty (Francis) Kavanaugh, both of Wilmington.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Jerome and Joseph Bolatto.

Interment will be in the Bonfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name to the Salina Fire Protection District would be appreciated.
