Winona M. Carr, age 78 of Hastings, formerly of Chisago City, MN went to be in the loving arms of her God after a long battle with Alzheimers on Friday, May 24, 2013. Winona was born March 4, 1935 in Frederic, WI to James and Mary (Schallenberger) Weston.
She was a former office manager at the Chisago City Co-op. After moving to Hastings, was a longtime member of both the Hastings United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women's group. She will be long remembered as a warm and loving person by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Donald and Fred Weston; sister Judith Stokes and former husband Charles "Sonny" Carr.
Winona is survived by her loving, devoted daughter Barbara Lott-Munson and special son-in-law Michael Munson of Hastings; son Richard Carr of Hastings (Chisago City); seven grandchildren: Casey, Ashley, Matthew (Jamie) Lott of Hastings and Jon (Laura) Lott of AZ, Danielle Carr-Voss (Jon) of Stacy, Samantha and Richard Carr Jr. of Ham Lake; also six great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Ann (John) Dorniden and Marjorie Harper, both of Cottage Grove, MN, Betty Storlie of Denver, CO and brother Jerry Weston (Faye) of Jacksonville, NC.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings. A Prayer Service will follow at 7 PM. Private interment will be at the United Methodist Cemetery in Center City, MN. The family wishes to thank the staff at Oakridge Manor of Hastings and White Pine Memory Care of Cottage Grove for the loving care she received during the past eight years, and to the Allina Hospice for their support during the last three months.
