Richard Lyle Barnett, 62, of Jacksonville, died Friday, December 4, 2009, at his residence. He was born December 12, 1946, in Carrollton, the son of James William and Thelma Liles Barnett. He married Diane Larotonda on December 29, 1973 in Chicago, and she survives.

He is also survived by three sons, John Barnett of Carbondale, James Barnett of St. Louis, Missouri, and Thomas Barnett of Wollongong, Australia; one daughter, Mary Barnett of Jacksonville, one brother, James (wife, Leslie) Barnett of St. Charles, Missouri, and one sister, Jane (husband, Tim) Allen of Eldred. He was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Barnett, and one brother, Dave Barnett.

Mr. Barnett was a self-employed accountant prior to retirement. He served in the United States Army as a cryptologist during the Vietnam War. Mr. Barnett was active as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America, and coached t-ball, baseball, and football. He enjoyed word puzzles and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Services were entrusted to Williamson Funeral Home of Jacksonville, Illinois.
