Grace Barrall was born in Geneva, New York, the last of five children born to John Bagshaw and Ruth (Kitney) Bagshaw. She graduated from Geneva High School and attended William Smith College in Geneva. While attending William Smith, Grace met her future husband, Herbert M. Barrall who was attending Hobart College. Grace and Herb were married on February 10, 1946 in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Geneva, following Herb's graduation from Virginia Theological Seminary.
Grace and Herb, (The Reverend Herbert M. Barrall) lived in Connecticut, Ohio, New York, Colorado, and Illinois prior to Herb's retirement. In 1987 they moved to Salem to be closer to family. Grace was a dedicated member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Salem and Chapter BC of the PEO Sisterhood. She was an avid gardener, wrote poetry, enjoyed sewing, trailer travel, and especially, cooking. Grace loved the outdoors and relished the days she and Herb spent amongs the aspens at their remote mountain cabin in Colorado. She loved children and took great delight in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Above all, Grace was a woman of faith, and was devoted to her husband and family. Being a good mother to her children was always a top priority for her, and all those close to her have been blessed because of it. She was courageous, determined, and loving in all that she did.
A memorial Service was held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Salem, OR May 13, 2011. Grace and Herb were interred at All Soul's Walk on August 20, 2011.
