Mary Jane Coop Obituary

Mary Jane Coop, daughter of William and Sarah (Leach) Ellison, was born March 25, 1866 in Ohio. She departed this life November 14, 1945 at her home in Unionville, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 7 months and 20 days.

She came to Jefferson County, Iowa when a small girl, later moving to Davis county.

On October 30, 1881, she was united in marriage to Reuben H. Coop. To this union was born 14 children, eight of whom preceded her in death: William, Lee, Catherine, Myrtle, Francis, John, Lula and Emma. Those surviving are her husband, two sons, Earl of Moulton and Lester of Unionville and four daughters, Mrs. Rosa Morrison of Bunch, Mrs. Anna Brooks of Unionville, Mrs. Avis Rose of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Effie Morrison of Huron, S. D., one sister Mrs. Ida Albright of Drakesville; 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She joined the Christian Church at an early age. She was a kind and loving mother and a devoted wife.

She was bedfast for 2 1/2 months, and was too ill to celebrate their 64th wedding anniversary October 30th.

Funeral service was held at the Christian Church at Bunch, conducted by Rev. James Wahls of Blakesburg, Iowa.

The songs were "No Disappointment in Heaven," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and her requested song "We Are Going Down The Valley" were sung by Mrs. Dale Stufflebeam and Miss Ellen Johnson.

Grandsons were pallbearers: Ralph Morrison, Emory Morrison, Dwight Coop, Oris Coop, Basil Rose and Verne Brooke.

The body was laid to rest in the Mounts cemetery.
