Pluma was born in Jasper county, Illinois, the daughter of Benjamin and Dolly Dyson. She was one of ten children. After the death of her father, her mother, accompanied by four of her brothers, homesteaded in Alberta, Canada in 1914 and broke the virgin soil there and farmed and built new homes. Eventually, the brothers returned to the states to live, but her mother only came back four times in her lifetime to visit her other children. Plumas married Mansel C. Allen on Oct. 1912. The Allen family consisted of four children: August, Everald, Anna and Chester.

Mrs. Pluma E. Allen, 84, formerly of 805 South Van Buren, Newton, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Richland Memorial Hospital. She had been living with each of her three daughters in Phoenix, Ariz., Denver, Colo., and Olney, returning to Olney.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pulliam Funeral Home, Newton. The Rev. H. A. Dasch will officiate, and burial will be at Trexler Cemetery.

Born April 4, 1890 in Jasper County, Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Benjamin and Dollie Mahaney Dyson.

She married Mansel Allen in 1919. He died in 1952.

Surviving are one son, Chester, Chicago; three daughters, Mrs. John (Audrey) McKinney, Olney, Mrs. Everald G. Nichols, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Anna B. Sims, Phoenix, Ariz; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildrn; two brothers, Atlee Dyson, Tacoma, Wash.; and Frank Dyson, Dieterich; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Teele, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Belva Price, Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the South Muddy Baptist Church.
