Albert K. Spotts or Spotz was born c. 1843 in York County, Pennsylvania. and in 1860 was a laborer living in Manchester Township, York County. He stood 5'3" tall and had brown hair and blue eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in York as a substitute for draftee David Richcreek October 24, 1862, mustered into federal service there as a private with Co. C, 166th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863. He also enlisted in York August 26, 1864, mustered in Harrisburg August 27 as an unassigned private with the 3rd Pennsylvania Cavalry (60th Pa), and honorably discharged with his company at Richmond, Virginia, date unknown but probably June - July 1865.
After the war, he moved to Illinois where he married Mary Jane Rudy March 4, 1868. Together they had Noah Franklin (b. 12/29/69), Pius (b. 09/07/72), Lucy (b. ?, d. 03/10/75), Martin (b. 06/15/76), Fannie (b. 03/13/78), Maggie (b. 03/10/80), Maud (b. 09/07/82), Grover Cleveland (b. 04/08/86), and Harry H. (b. 09/07/88). By no later than 1900, he was living in Princeton, Bureau County, where he died in 1901.
