He was born Jan. 24, 1917 in Marion, Iowa, the son of William and Louise Schwad
Aupperle.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He married Frances Seibring March 9, 1944, in Marion. She died April 20, 1990.
He later married Hazel Moffitt Nov. 3, 1990 in Watseka. She died June 11, 2002.
Mr. Aupperle was an Iroquois County Deputy for the Sherriff's Department for 27
years. He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka and the
Watseka American Legion and was a life member of the Iroquois County Law
Enforcement Association. He also worked for many years for the Iroquois County
Highway Department.
He is survived by one step son, Stanley Moffitt Sr. of Martinton; one sister,
Evelyn Adams of Arvada, Colo.; five grandchildren, Cathy Moffitt of Watseka,
Sandy Moffitt of Flagstaff, Ariz., Stanley Moffitt of Mesa, Ariz., Melody
Kokenberger of Watseka, and Shelia Brown of Ashkum; three great-grandchildren,
and one great-great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by both parents and one brother.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home in
Watseka, and one hour prior to the funeral service Wednesday at the church.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvary Lutheran Church in
Watseka with the Rev. Dean Bottjen officiating.
Burial will be in the Sheldon Cemetery with military graveside rites by the
Watseka American Legion; the Watseka V.F.W. Post #7450 and Sheldon V.F.W. Post
#8631.
