BELVIDERE - Robert G. Ackerman, 88, a lifelong resident of Belvidere/Boone County, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, in Maple Crest Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born Jan. 27, 1913, in Belvidere to William and Bertha (Schultz) Ackerman. He married Mildred McEachran on Oct. 5, 1935, in Boone County. He owned and operated a farm for 30-plus years in Boone County, retiring in 1970. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Belvidere High School band of 1930, which won the National Championship in Denver, Colo., and Caledonia Township clerk for many years.
Survivors include son, Gary (Nancy) Ackerman of Roscoe daughter, Carol Sue (Jim) Januska of Delevan, Wis. six grandchildren, Diane Vella, Deborah Sargent, David Shattuck, Dean Shattuck, Bradley Januska and Angela Januska and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents wife and one daughter, Janice Anderson.
Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with the Rev. Eugene E. Wille, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial in Scottish Cemetery, Argyle. Visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday in the funeral home. A memorial is established at the funeral home for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
