Norbert W. Baltes, 81, of Aurora went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 11, 2002 at Provena Mercy Center Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 17, 1921 in Waukesha, WI to the late Ruth Matila (Hornbeck) and Wendelin M. Baltes.
    Norbert served his country in Europe during W.W. II in the 102D Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. In his early years, he was an all American. He was united in marriage to Francesca on November 23, 1970. They resided in Aurora. For more than 30 years, Norbert was employed at Caterpillar as an engineer until his retirement. He was a life member of the Loyal order of Moose, Aurora #400, where he was a past Governor, and Joliet #300. He was on the Ritual Staff Mecca 9 Moose Legion for 29 years. Norbert was also a life member of the American Legion Post #84, a member of the V.F.W. in Waukesha, and the Mason's. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
    He is survived by his wife, Francesca A. Baltes; three sons, Allen of Aurora, Timothy of Rockford, and Lee (Marsha) Baltes of Aurora; two daughters, Michelle (James) Wade of Aurora and Beverly (David) Lowe of Tampa, FL; a step-son, Frank Rowley of Morris; a step-daughter, Linda (Alfred) Kempke of Joliet; 13 grandchildren, David, Craig and Brian Baltes of Aurora, Doug (Debbie) Musich of Colorado Springs, CO, Jennifer and Andria Hart of Aurora, KariAnn (Matthew) Bohnek of Floral City, FL, David (Carroll) Tucker of Tampa, FL, John and Frank Rowley of Morris, Gary, Lisa and KariAnn Kempke of Joliet; two great -granddaughters, Kassandra Baltes of Aurora and Tabitha Musich of Colorado; a sister, Vivian Neiman of Waukesha, WI; a nephew, Michael Neiman and a great niece, Amy Neiman.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard in childhood; and aunts and uncles.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 16, 2002 at 10 a.m. at THE DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY. Interment will be at River Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 3-8 p.m. at THE DALEIDEN LAKE STREET MORTUARY, 220 N. Lake St., Aurora 630-898-8634.
