Joseph Andrews Dies at Age of Eighty-eight--Had Long and Full Life and Was Always Active
Joseph Andrew, one of Blackstone's oldest and most respected citizens died this morning at 1? o'clock, death coming as the result of infirmities of old age. Mr.Andews would be eighty-nine years old had he lived until September, and despite his advanced years was wonderfully spry and able to get around. It was only about a week ago that he began to fail rapidly and slowly he sank into a peaceful sleep.
The decedent came to this locality, when he was only six years of age, coming to Kangley with his parents who moved west from Massachusetts to grow up with the new country. After some time in the neighborhood of Kangley, he went to Blackstone and has since lived in that neighborhood. It was only six years ago that he retired from active farming, and it is said that he celebrated his
eighty-first birthday by shocking oats on his farm. He farmed for a year after that before finally being forced to give up the strenuous labors.
Besides his wife, there are five children left to mourn his death: Chester and
Joseph at Blackstone, Eugene of Joliet, Frank of Minnesota, and Mrs. John Snyder of Manville.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Davis U. B. church.

Impressive Services Held at Davis Church Yesterday.
The funeral of the late J. M. Andrews was held yesterday afternoon from the Davis church. The deceased had always been a faithful member of this church and before he became too feeble attended services regularly. The funeral sermon was preached by Mrs. M. Walters who attended the church with Mr. Andrews many years ago. In her sermon she touched on the many good traits that the deceased was noted for. She stated that the deceased was one of the best Christians that she ever had the pleasure of numbering among her friends. The widow, , Mrs. Sylvia Andrews, who was formerly Miss Sylvia Houchin was very much comforted by the
sermon preached by Mrs. Walters. Owing to the bad roads many could not attend the services at the church but the home was crowded two hours before the time of the funeral. Mrs. Andrews' children attended the funeral. The children are Mrs. Nancy Goodmanson, Mrs. Ralph Mackey, Geo. Swartz, Mrs. Geo. Bonham, and Mrs. Levi Jacobs. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The remains were laid to
rest in Phillips' cemetery.

Note: children listed in services are children of Mrs. Andrews' first marriage.
