Services for Mrs. Joan Burris, 74, of Lefors, TX will be at the Lefors Church of Christ in Lefors, TX on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Minister Gene Gee, officiating. Burial will follow at Lefors Cemetery under the direction of Peppers Family Funeral Home in Wheeler, Texas.

Mrs. Burris passed away Thursday, April 4th at her home in Amarillo, TX.

Joan Burris was born September 9, 1938 in Mansville, Missouri to the late Carl E. Joy and Ruby Jane (Fry) Joy. She married Glen Burris on February 4, 1957 at Leedy, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 26, 1996. In 1976 they moved to Lefors, TX from Wichita, KS. She was a housewife and homemaker. Joan loved to sew and crochet. Mrs. Burris was a member of the Lefors Church of Christ in Lefors, TX.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one grandson, Paul Edward Burris.

Joan is survived by three sons, Rocky Burris and wife, Sharon of Wichita KS, Craig Vanderman of Gainsville, TX, Ricky Burris of Wichita, KS; five daughters, Elizabeth Aranda of Delvan, WI., Glenda Terry and husband Wayne of Pampa, TX, Jessie Mabry of Lefors, TX, Terri Burris and Shannon Johnson of Lefors, TX, Kay Burris of Pampa, TX; three brothers, Donnie Joy of Wichita, KS, Gene Joy and Larry Joy, both of Spoken, WA.; two sisters, Zelma Carnahan of Abilene, TX, Karley Aleen Lawson of Scranton, PA; twelve Grandchildren, Rocky Burris Jr., Mandy Brown, Alisa Barajas, Randall Cady Jr., Gary Cady, Julie Terry, Marlissa , Julianna , and Miles Liebsch, Mikel and Stephen Martin, Keeley McCoy; twenty seven Great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to The American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX, and the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106.

LEFORS — Joan Burris, 74, of Lefors died Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lefors Church of Christ in Lefors with Gene Gee, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Lefors Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peppers Family Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Survivors include three sons, Rocky Burris of Wichita, Craig Vanderman of Gainsville and Ricky Burris of Wichita; five daughters, Elizabeth Aranda of Delvan, Wis., Glenda Terry of Pampa, Jessie Mabry of Lefors, Terri Burris of Lefors and Kay Burris of Pampa; three brothers, Donnie Joy of Wichita and Gene Joy and Larry Joy, both of Spokane, Wash.; two sisters, Zelma Carnahan of Abilene and Karley Aleen Lawson of Scranton, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
