Edward Junior "Red" Altom was the son of Clarence Edward and Dessie O. (Eakins) Altom. Clarence and Dessie had sons William Andrew Altom and Edward Junior Altom. Edward Junior Altom married Betty Lou Price on February 12, 1949 in Greenville.

He is survived by his children, Cynthia Carr and her husband Steve of Springfield, IL, David Altom and his wife Linda of Greenville, Susan Scott and her husband Merle of Greenville, and Melissa Jane Cornelius and her husband Rick of Mulberry Grove, IL along with eight grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter Samantha Cornelius.

Betty L. Altom, age 85, of Greenville, passed away Tuesay, November 3, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, IL. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at 11AM at Young Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, November 7, 2015 after 10:00 AM.

Betty was born May 25, 1930 in Zanesville, Ohio to Louis and Mary (Bone) Price. She married Edward "Red" Altom on February 21, 1994.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Steve) Carr of Springfield, I, David (Linda) Altom of Greenville, IL, Susan (Merle) Scott of Greenville, IL, and Melissa Jane (Rick) Cornelius of Mulberry Grove, IL, along with eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She is also by three brothers James Herman (Rae Marie) Price of Maryville, IL, Robert Price of Collinsville, IL , and Thomas (Jean) Price of Edwardsville, IL, and two sisters, Delores "Dodey" Horstmann of St. Louis, MO and Sharon L. (David W.) Deatherage of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a granddaughter Samantha Renee Cornelius.

She was a graduate of Greenville High School. She worked as a waitress for many years, working at The Wishing Well in Smithboro and retired from 2 Acres Restaurant in Greenville. She was a member of the Greenville Christian Church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner's Hospital, Greenville Masonic Lodge 245 A. F. & A. M. or The Greenville First Christian Church.
