GALESBURG -- Woodbury S. "Woody" Agar III, 66, of 163 W. Tompkins St. died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 1996, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1929, in Chicago to Woodbury S. Jr. and Katharine Dixon Agar, he married Kathryn Berg in 1956 in Moline. He later married Sharon Stromsted on May 3, 1978, in Aledo. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, William D. of Morton; three daughters, Melissa A. Agar and Julie D. Agar, both of Galesburg, and Elizabeth A. Hartwick of Andalusia; and four grandchildren. One son, David, preceded him in death in 1979. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He worked in food service, the business office and registrar's office at Knox College. He last served as recorder.
He graduated in 1956 from Knox College, where he was a member of the K Club, Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, Gale Society and the 25-Year Club. He also was a timer and scorekeeper for the athletic department.
He was a member of Prairie Players Civic Theatre. He was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson- West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Norman Myer will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Knox College.
