Marilyn Ann Alden, age 67, of 227 South 10th St. Hennepin, Illinois, Putnam County, passed away at 6:59 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at St. Margaret's Hospital Spring Valley, Illinois 61362 Bureau County.
She was born July 3, 1932 in RR Gilson, Illinois, the daughter of Frank J. and Inez Ramp Walker. She married Kenneth Alden on July 3, 1955 in Hernando, Mississippi. He survives.
Other survivors include one son, Patrick (Deby) Alden, Peoria, Illinois four daughters, Julie Alden, Genoa, Italy; Mrs. Beth (Kirk) Rydberg, Rockford, Illinois; Mrs. Connie (David) Bogdan, Grand Rapids, Michigan and Laura Jane Alden, Clayton, California; three brothers, Charles Walker, Chillicothe, Illinois, Jack Walker, Williamsfield, Illinois and Howard Walker, Metamora, Illinois; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated with a B. A. degree in Education from Western Illinois University.
She was employed as a teacher for 38 years in numerous schools, 25 in Sparland. She retired in 1994 and was a substitute teacher for Putnam County Elementary Schools.
She was a member of the DAR Spoon River Chapter, Williamsfield and also a member of the Women's Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Hennepin Post 1044.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 13 at Dysart-Cofoid Funeral Chapel with Reverend Faye Galiegos officiating. Cremation rites followed the service.
Memorials may be made to the Putnam County Educational Foundation.
