Roscoe – William J. Adams, 79, of 7914 Winspoint Road, Roscoe, IL, died in his home on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002.
He was born March 5, 1922 in Manchester Township, Boone County, IL, the son of Vernon W. and Emily Phillips Adams. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy on the USS Saratoga. William married Shirley Hoye on July 12, 1944 in Rockford, IL.
He farmed the family dairy and crop farm for many years, retiring in 1988. He was a life member of American Legion Post No. 332 in Rockton, the Clinton Memorial VFW Post in Clinton, WI and the Moose Club in Harvard, IL. William liked to travel, and enjoyed his children and many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley, his four children, William V. (Lynn) Adams of Caledonia, IL, David A. Adams of Atlanta, GA, Linda S. (Forest Price) Hale of Rockford, IL, and Lori (Cal) Ledbetter of Beloit; four grandchildren, Wendi (Erik) Knodle of Rockton, William M. (Renee) Adams of Caledonia, Amber Ledbetter of Stevens Point and Krista Ledbetter of Milwaukee; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Knodle and Emily Knodle and brother, Wilber (Ena) Adams of Port Richey; one sister, Lois (Richard) Jenson of South Beloit, IL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and one granddaughter, Patricia Sue Mathison.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan.18, 2002 in the Daley, Murphy, Wisch and Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI, with the Rev. Cheryl Esbrook from Rockton United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to Beloit Regional Hospice or to the Harlem Roscoe Paramedics.
