John Smith Apple for many years a prominent resident of Keyesport, died at the Soldier's Home in Quincy, Illinois on February 27, 1920. Mr. Apple was born September 13, 1843 in Hancock county, Indiana where he married 56 years ago Miss. Dille. He is survived by his widow, one son, C.B. Apple of Keyesport and two daughters, Mrs. Ella Carter of Ainsworth, Iowa and Mrs. Minnie Wilbur of Pueblo, Colo. One brother R.J. Apple of Tamalco died only two weeks ago and two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Emery and Mrs. Ed Kesner died within a few months, making two brothers and two sisters who died within 16 months. He is also survived by a brother, L.C. Apple of St. Louis and a sister, Mrs. Mary Owens. Mr. Apple was a member of Co.K., 11th Ind. Infantry and was mayor of Keyesport for ten years. He had been in the soldier's home in Quincy for a year.
