Obituary: John A. Black died at this late residence, 317 S. Campbell, at 3:30 this morning of a complicated heart trouble aged 70 years, 11 months, and 5 days. Funeral services will be conducted at the late residence at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Rodgers, assisted by Rev. Gerstenkorn. Internment in Oakwood Cemetery, Macomb, IL.

The death came as a shock to his many friends, few who knew of his sickness. He was roused as usual Saturday, but although he had not been feeling quite as well as usual of ate, he was apparently enjoying fair health. Saturday evening he was taken suddenly ill while at his home, his ailment being heart trouble. A physician was summoned and he was put to bed and given every care possible. He remained very sick, however, that night and early Sunday morning his sons were called, as it was known his condition was such that it might prove fatal at anytime. He continued much the same and while in no pain, and not feeling sick, his heart was in bad condition. This continued until he passed away at the hour stated.

Deceased was born near Doddsville May 31, 1851, this county being his home all of his life. He followed the occupation of farming until he retired from active work and moved to Macomb in August 1904, this having been his home since. He was united in Marriage April 4, 1883, to Sarah Frances Clugston, who survives.

Deceased was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him. While fearless in support of his own convictions, he was considerate of the opinions of others. He was an excellent citizen, a good friend and neighbor, a loving husband and father, and his death will be mourned by all who knew him.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons: George E. and J. Randolph, residents of near Doddsville, and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Junia Prather of Rossville, IL.
