Osage Beach, Mo.--Marion J. "Mike" Agles, 75, formerly of Edwardsville, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 1996, at his son's home in Groveland.
He was employed by the federal government as a heavy equipment specialist and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a past commander of the Edwardsville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1299, a lifetime member of VFW Post 6408 of Havana and a member of American Legion Post 0229 of Eldon, Mo., and American Legion Post of Hinesville, Ga. He was a former member of St. Boniface Catholic Church of Edwardsville.
Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Edwardsville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mae (McLean) Agles.
He married the former Mary F. Erspamer Dec. 27, 1941, in Edwardsville. She died March 16, 1945.
Surviving are five sons, Richard Agles of Eldon, James Agles of Peoria, Robert Agles of Delavan, Jerome Agles of Morton and Donald Agles of Groveland; two daughters, Mary Jo Middleton of Groveland and Julianne Yates of Granite City; 12 grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Flagg of Collinsville.
Preceding him in death were a son, a daughter and three brothers.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, with the Rev. John Corredato as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glen Carbon.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate of Peoria or Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital of St. Louis.
