Marlene Elizabeth Barnes, 69, of Genoa, Illinois died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. She was born July 13, 1931 in Sycamore the daughter of Forrest and Eula (Gray) Davis. She married W. Richard Barnes on April 15, 1951 in Belvidere. She was a personnel manager for Northwestern Illinois Association in Sycamore for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Barnes of Genoa; two sons, Jack (Sherry) Barnes of Genoa, Daniel (Marie) Barnes of West Lafayette, Indiana; a brother, Maylon Davis of St. Petersburg, Florida; five grandchildren, Michelle (Dan) Brening, Kristin, Lisa, Ryan, and Melanie Barnes; a great grandson, Andrew Brening; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Lorene Davis. She was a member and former Sunday School Teacher at Faith United Methodist Church in Genoa. She was also a former Cub Scout Leader. She volunteered for many charitable organizations including the United Way.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25th at Cooper-Quiram Funeral Home with The Reverend Jan Parsons Comerford, officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Burlington Union Cemetery.
