David Allen Brown, son of Wm. and Nancy Brown, was born near Zanesville, Ohio, July 28, 1848, and died at his home near Joy, Illinois, March 1, 1913, aged 64 years, 7 months and 3 days. The deceased came to Mercer county when a small boy and lived here all of the rest of his life, excepting a few months spent in Iowa when a young man. He was married to Lidda Elzina Knox January 7, 1869. To them were born sixteen children, eight boys and eight girls. Four children died in infancy. Those left to mourn his death are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Rose Kiesey of Washington, Iowa; William and Daniel Brown of Keithsburg; Mrs. Mina Knox of Gilchrist; Clem and Glen Brown of Keithsburg; Cleve, at home; Lewis, near Seaton; Mrs. Minnie Robbins of Gladstone; Earl, Fern and Clinton, at home. Deceased also leaves three brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Louisa Knox of Keithsburg; Mrs. Carolina Braucht of ____ ; Mrs. Viola Henderson of Kansas; Frank and Harry Brown of Kansas, and Asa Brown of Iowa. He leaves 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10 o'clock a. m., at the Peniel church. Rev. L. F. DePoister of the Keithsburg Christian church officiated.
