Nancy Adkins Greenwood, 90, of Murphysboro, formerly of Newton, died at 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 1996 at St. Joseph Hospital in Murphysboro.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brick Cemetery in Newton. Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials can be made to the Newton Senior Citizens or United Methodist Church in Murphysboro.

Greenwood was born Oct. 31, 1905 in Richland County, the daughter of Arthur and Sarah (Weaver) Bickers. She married Wade Adkins April 17, 1928, and he preceded her in death June 27,1972. She then married Roe Greenwood, and he preceded her in death Dec. 9, 1985.

She is survived a son, Dale Adkins, of Murphysboro; two step-daughters, Lissa Alice Tate and Rosemary Souder, both of Newton; one step-son, Paul Adkins, of Newton; one brother, Bill Bickers, of Newton; one sister, Louise Myers, of Parkersburg; two grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Juel Probst, one step-granddaughter, Linda Tate Schuh, three brothers, George, Delbert and Jack Bickers, and four sisters, Effie Schackman, Nellie Hanson, Mae Newbit and Alma Hanson.
