Arline Jaffe, 96, of Kankakee, passed away Saturday (March 3, 2012) at her home. She was born May 29, 1915, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Robert and Florence Neaville Mabry. Her husband, Abraham Garrison "Jerry" Jaffe, whom she married Feb. 29, 1940, in Chicago, preceded her in death May 3, 1993. She enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping and keeping up on current events and family life.
Surviving are one son, David Jaffe, of Kankakee; three grandsons, Jacob Jaffe, of Washington, D.C., Kevin and Cheryl Clay, of Killeen, Texas, and Stephen Clay, of Elkhart, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Kylie Clay and Araina Clay; 11 nieces and nephews; and two special friends and caregivers, Charlene Rucker and Mary Jones.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jaffe Clay; one sister, Louise Baron; and one brother, John Mabry.
A gathering time for family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. funeral services at the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Homes, Kankakee Chapel, with Rabbi Paul Caplan officiating. Burial will be in B'Nai Israel Memorial Gardens, Kankakee. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
