SOUTHBURY — Mary M. Alfano, 97, of Heritage Village, died Monday, May 11, 2015, in the VITAS Hospice Care unit at Saint Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Giro Alfano.

Mrs. Alfano was born Dec. 10, 1917, in Derby, daughter of the late Antonio and Catherine (Criscuolo) Valentino. She had worked at BF Goodrich in Shelton for 25 years. She moved to Heritage Village in 1986 and became very active at the Southbury Senior Center. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

She is survived by her three children, Geraldine Patchkofsky and her husband, Raymond, of Southbury, Joseph Alfano and his wife, Maryse, of Seymour, and James Alfano and his wife, Deborah, of Southbury; two sisters, Dorothy Tribunella of South Carolina, and Phyllis Annechiarico of Orange; nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, May 16, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. Burial will follow in Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, Derby. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements by Carpino Funeral Home, Southbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southbury Volunteer Firemen's Association, P.O. Box 911, Southbury 06488.
