Wilma L. Arstein, 94, of Underwood, formerly of Rolette and Rugby, ND died on Sunday morning, April 5, 2009 at Prairie View Nursing Home, Underwood in the loving care of her family.

Funeral Services for Wilma will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette, ND. Rev. John Hesford will officiate.

Burial will be in the Rolette Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Valle Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 16, 2009 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Serving as Casket Bearers for Wilma will be her grandchildren.

Wilma, the daughter of John and Emma (Bickel) Johnson, was born on March 26, 1915 and raised in the Willow City and Overly areas, attending the Cleveland School at rural Overly.

Wilma was married to Oliver Foss in 1934 and they made their home in Fonda, ND. Oliver passed away in 1952.

Wilma was united in marriage to David Arstein in 1954 and they farmed in the Rolette Community. David died in 1988.

Wilma worked for a time at San Haven, the Dunseith Nursing Home, the Rolette Hospital and also was employed with the Rolette School District as a cook for many years. She was very active in Valle Lutheran Church and Wolf Creek Homemaker's Club. Wilma resided at the Rugby Haaland Home Complex for three years and for the past year has made her home at Prairie View Nursing Home in Underwood.

Wilma was a woman of strong faith who has left a legacy of love for family. She showed that love in many ways, but one way was to always have homemade doughnuts or the family's favorite meatballs whenever they came to visit. Wilma will be forever in our hearts and memories.

Wilma is survived by her children: Patsy Johannes and her husband, Doyle of Underwood, ND; Dale Arstein and his wife, Cheryl of Cleveland, Ohio; Maurice Foss and his wife, Lorraine of Puyallup, Washington; Rodney Foss and his wife, Sandra of Bismarck, ND; Stanley Foss and his wife, Marie of Watertown, South Dakota and Gordon Foss and his wife, Joan of Nisswa, Minnesota; Sixteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Oliver Foss and David Arstein; daughter, Sharon (Foss) Madeja who died in 1974; brothers, Maurice Johnson, LaVerne Johnson and twin boys in infancy; sisters, Ella Brimie, Ruby Moors, Beatrice Jennum and Bernice Wittmayer.
