Leona was born Aug. 16, 1918, in Lidgerwood, to Christ and Annie (Ebel) Buchholtz. She was raised in Wilton and Baldwin and attended grade schools there. Leona was married at a young age and bore six children: three boys, Leon, Wesley and Martin; and three girls, LaDonna, Norma and Darlene.
She is survived by three daughters, LaDonna Hilzendeger, Bismarck, Norma Kruchenberg, Jamestown, and Darlene Anderson, Steele; one son, Martin; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Buchholtz, Bismarck, and Walter and Eugene Buchholtz, both of Missoula, Mont.; one sister, Donna Plinnes, Tacoma, Wash.; and seven nieces and ten nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Leon and Wesley; her parents; four brothers, Alfred, Leonard, George and Roy Buchholtz; and one sister, Violet Schatz.
