Louie Martin Edward Flathman was born May 20, 1920, at Kiowa, Nebraska, the son of John Flathman and his wife, Louise Harms. He was baptized in infancy at Bethlehelm (sic) Lutheran Church Church, Kiowa, by Pastor John Meyer. He attended the parrchial (sic) school of Kiowa and Davenport and was confirmed on May 27, 1934 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Davenport, Davenport (NOTE: typed as written in newspaper) by the Rev. L. Ernst.

He moved with his parents to a farm near Chester in 1935, where he had been engaged in farming since that time. His sudden death was due to a car accident early Saturday morning July 19 on highway No. 81, at the age of 32 years, 1 month and 29 days. The deceased was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Chester.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his passing, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Llathman (sic), Sr., three sisters Mrs. Oliver Keim, Hebron; Mrs. Lily Duensing, Chester; and Mrs. Alan Liebsack (Ruth) Nevada; two brothers, John, Jr. and Elmer both of Chester. One brother, Oscar preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held in St.John's Lutheran Tuesday, July 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. E.B. Hilst officiating. Interment was in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
