Raymond moved with his family to the Guide Rock community in 1923, where he attended school. On November 28, 1936, he married his sweetheart, Pauline Reed of rural Guide Rock. They moved where jobs could be found, residing in Colorado, South Dakota, Idaho and Nebraska. While working at the Ammunition Depot in Hastings, Raymond was drafted in 1945, and served one year in the army. He later became a member of the V.F.W.
He returned to Guide Rock to raise four children, and was employed for thirteen years by Booker Brothers. He worked for eight years at the Skelly Service Station and drove the school bus off and on for twenty-nine years, sixteen of them full time. In December of 1967, he opened the Amack Garage, Car Wash, and Laundromat, where he worked until he semi-retired in 1979. He maintained county roads for eight years.
Preceding him in death were his parents; seven brothers ande two sisters.
Left to treasure his memory are his wife Pauline; four children: Charles "Garth" Amack and wife Margaret of Hastings, Nebraska; Wanda Portenier and husband Gary of Seward, Nebraska; Gerald Amack and wife Penny of Justin, Texas, and Philip Amack and wife Cheri of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Fogo of Portland, Oregon; other relatives, and his many friends.
