Geniza Irene Ackerman was born to Stephen B. Albro and Ida Dennis Albro on May 1, 1911, at Fairmont. She was one of 14 children in her family.

She died on October 11, 1978, at Fairmont at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 10 days.

Geniza was a life-long Fairmont resident. She graduated from the Fairmont High School in 1919. She worked part-time at the local telephone company as a switch-board operator, and part-time at a sandwich shop operated by her sister, Merele, until her marriage.

On April 4, 1934, Geniza married Edmond Ackerman of Grafton. To this union were born four children.

Geniza was an active member of the Fairmont Community Church, a 25-year member of Rebekah lodge, twice serving as Noble Grand, and a member of Kensington for many years. At the time of her death, she was president of the Golden Circle, a senior citizen's group.

Geniza was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Hubert, Dennis, Leonard and Lewis Albro.

She is survived by her husband, Edmond; her children, Mrs. Gayle (Nancy) Galusha of Fairmont, Nadine Ackerman and Lanny Ackerman of Lincoln, and Mrs. Robert (Nina) Bartu of Exeter; five sisters, Mrs. Harley (MereleJ) Mitchell of Lincoln, Mrs. Hubert (Gertrude) McClellan, Mrs. Federal (Charlotte) Bridgman, and Mrs. Margaret Gibson, all of Fairmont, and Dorothy Albro of Bremerton, Wash.; four brothers, Giblert Albro of York, Francis and Robert Albro of Bremerton, Wash., and Walter Albro of Baltimore, Md.; five grandchildren, Tomie, Tricia and Thad Galusha of Fairmont and Nicky and Greg Ackerman of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services were held on October 14, 1978, in the Fairmont Community Church with the Rev. Jay Vetter officiating. Organist was Mrs. Nancy Jo Galusha. Vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall.

Pallbearers were Del Galusha, John Gibson, Kenneth G. Moore, Dwight A. West, Jerry Galusha, Alfred Jorgensen. Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
