The death of Mrs Paralee Brown, which occurred Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs Herman Rippetoe of Route 4, although not unexpected, brought sadness to the community.
Mrs Brown, widow of the late George Brown, was born March 13, 1848, died March 13, 1933, being 85 years old on the day of her death.
She is survived by the following children: 2 daughters, Mrs Rippetoe and Mrs Ola Alexander of Cookeville; 3 sons, Cicero, Double Springs; Luke, Detroit, Mi; Monroe, California.
The funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon by Rev R A Moore with burial at the Byers graveyard.
The life of Mrs Brown stands as a living example of Christian fellowship. Early in life she became a member of the Baptist church and lived a faithful member until death. Besides being a loving mother, she was a devoted neighbor and companion, always ready to lend a hand to those in need, carrying out the principles of her religion which she daily practiced.
She never burdened one with her troubles. Instead, she seemed always happy and tried to make others so. She greeted visitors in her home with a warm smile of welcome, especially did she enjoy the presence of ministers and other Christian people.
