Richard Merle Adam HOPEWELL Richard Merle Adam, 87, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, NJ. Born Sept. 20, 1927, in Hopewell Township, NJ, Dick graduated from Kearny (NJ) High School, and was otherwise a lifelong resident of Hopewell. He served his country during World War II as a Merchant Marine and later with the US Army. Dick retired as a mechanic with Castoro Construction Company, where he worked for more than 50 years. He was a longtime member of the Sohiwe Deer Club on Minnetown Lane in Hopewell, as well as a member of the Hopewell Volunteer Fire Company and the Hopewell American Legion Post No. 339. Predeceased by his brother, Archie, and his sister, Irene, and his first wife, Maryann in 1977, Dick is survived by his wife, Betty (Lawshe) Brost-Adam; his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Davenport of Flemington, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Deanna Brost of Oro Valley, AZ; his son, Robert Brost of Galloway, NJ; his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and James Kay of Robbinsville, NJ; his son, Jonathan Brost of Lawrenceville, NJ; his nine grandchildren, Ryan, Erica, Allison, Jamie, Samantha, Michael, Andrew, Emily, and Spencer; his two brothers, Robert Adam of Kingston, NY, and James Adam of South Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015, at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Hopewell Borough, NJ. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations in Dick's memory may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
