Anchorage resident Emmett Millhouse, 74, died Oct. 5, 1997, at his Anchorage home. There was a visitation at Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3804 Spenard Road. A service was conducted at Evergreen Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial with full military honors was at Fort Richardson National Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers included Tony Paul, Joseph Belarde, and Jamie, Troy and Shad Millhouse, his grandsons.

Mr. Millhouse was born Sept. 2, 1923, in Portland, Ore. He was honorably discharged after serving 2 1/2 years with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He moved to Anchorage in 1952.At the time of his retirement in 1977, Mr. Millhouse had been working for Arctic Motor Freight as a member of Teamsters #959 for 20 years. ''His sense of humor helped us all. He was warm-hearted, loved his family and will be terribly missed,'' a family member said.

Mr. Millhouse is survived by his wife, Doris; daughters, Susan Gauthier, Gail Fisher and Wendy Belarde; son, Dennis; grandchildren Brian Gauthier, Carrie Tucker, Cami Moe, Jamie Millhouse, Amy Brighton, Fuzzy Millhouse, Tony Belarde, Sarah Gauthier, Allison Mellen, Shad Millhouse, Elizabeth Kershaw, Paul Belarde, Joe Belarde, David Fisher, Dannielle Fisher, Blake Millhouse and Clay Millhouse; and his 19 great-grandchildren. Mr. Millhouse was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Edith Millhouse; brothers, Howard and Boyd; and his son, Bruce Millhouse, who died in 1968 in Vietnam, and his grandson, David Gauthier. The family requests memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1057 W. Fireweed, Suite 204, Anchorage 99503. Arrangements by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
