In Loving Memory

On October 9th, in Boron, California, Henry Lynn Wiser Sr. transcended his earthly bounds and began his journey of ever-lasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven. He was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a great-grandfather, an uncle and a friend.

Hank was born on December 12, 1926 in Havana, Arkansas to a farmer and his wife, Porter and Ratha Wiser. He was the eighth of eleven children. In 1942, he signed up to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy. In April of 1947, he married Dortha Mae Catlett and together they had four sons. Hank moved his young family to California in 1952. He was an excellent provider, a devoted husband and a dedicated father. Hank was a humble and well respected man of exemplary values. He lived a prosperous life with strength and poise. He was an iconic family anchor. Enduring life's many challenges including the recent loss of his second son he always remained true to his faith, his integrity and his values. He was both an enthusiastic learner and an extraordinary teacher. He employed these characteristics throughout his years as a tailor, a machinist, a writer and a successful business owner. As a preacher of 44 years with the Church of Christ, Hank performed countless weddings, funerals, baptisms, sermons and even counseling when necessary. He was considered a master craftsman, a problem solver and a natural and patient teacher. He displayed these qualities and more on a daily basis in every aspect of this life. Hank was always eager to lend a helping hand. He was a man to define all men. He was a fine example of what we all strive to be.

Hank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dortha Wiser, his sons Henry Lynn Wiser Jr., of Pinon Hills, California, Stephen Grant Wiser of Boron, California, James Robert Wiser of Glendale, Arizona, three daughter-in-laws, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one brother, three sisters, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, in addition to a long list of extended family and friends. He will be remembered with love, admiration and respect for the profound and lasting impact that he made in so many lives.
