Mr. Denmark was a United States Navy veteran serving in the pacific during World War II. He managed Denmark Distributing Company and established Roland's Bonded Warehouses in 1961 which is still in operation today. He was very active in many civic and community affairs, including past chairman of the March of Dimes and active in the Robert McIntyre United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Savannah Golf Club and an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Jane Johnson Denmark of Savannah; son, Roland Sonny Denmark, of Savannah; daughters, Mrs. Talley Smith of Oklahoma; Laurie Denmark of Tampa, FL; sister, Kathryn Cobb of Savannah; step-daughters, Elizabeth Johnson of Pooler; Victoria Blocker of Bloomingdale; Cynthia Kessler of Guyton; gra ndchildren, Michael Smith of Woodstock, GA; Joy Lewis of Woodbridge, VA; Tina Beatey of Savannah; Frank Smith of Tampa, FL; grandson, Roland Parker Denmark, III of Savannah; six great grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2004 in the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors. Pallbearers will be, Michael Smith, Fred Quarles, Marion Osbourne, Cleve Carswell, Anthony Allen and Tommy Shearouse. Entombment: ~~ Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park Mausoleum ~~
