UNABLE TO REACH HUSBAND WITH WORD OF WIFE’S DEATH.
Emory Scherer, Evansville Engineer assigned to government work on the Florida coast, knows nothing of the illness and death of his wife, who died last night at the Gilbert Sanitarium after a week’s illness.
Until recently Mr. and Mrs. Scherer lived in New York. A month ago, when Scherer was sent to Florida, his wife came to visit her sister, Mrs. M.G. Lockyear, 114 Blackford Ave, this city. Telegrams sent to Scherer, telling of his wife’s death have so far failed to reach him.
Mrs. Scherer is survived by three sisters and five brothers, all living in the city. Funeral arrangements will not be made until Mr. Scherer is heard from.
