KNIGHT TEMPLAR DEAD

G. W. Elliott Dies of Paralysis at Schuylerville.

Schuylerville, Jan. 24. — George W. Elliott, for many years a resident here, died this noon at his home on Pearl street as the result of a stroke of paralysis sustained Sunday. His condition was hopeless from the first. He was a tinsmith by occupation, but had been retired for years. He was about eighty years of age.

Mr. Elliott was veteran of the Civil War, a member of the Grand Army of the Republic, of Schuylerville lodge, 676, F. & A. M.; Home Chapter, 176 R. A. M.; and Washington commander, 33, K. T., of Saratoga Springs in which he was knighted Feb. 14, 1894.

FUNERAL OF GEORGE W. ELLIOTT

Schuylerville, Jan. 25. — The funeral of George W. Elliott, who died yesterday noon at his home on Pearl street, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. Stephen’s church. The Rev. A. B. Murray will officiate, and Washington commandery, 33, K. T., will attend the services. The body will be placed in the vault of Prospect Hill cemetery.

Mr. Elliott was born at Clintonville, N. Y., Aug. 3, 1836, and therefore was eighty-one years of age. In 1889 he removed from Ausable Forks to Schuylerville, and for twenty years was in the employ of the McRae Hardware company. About nine years ago he retired from active business. He was filler?? of Schuyler lodge, F. & A. M., for sixteen years. He was a life long Republican.

Mr. Elliott was the father of seventeen children, of whom all but one are living as follows: George of Argyle, William of Plattsburgh; Grant of Lansingburgh; Robert of Waterbury, Conn., Charles of Stillwater, Arthur and Phillip of Schuylerville; the Misses Elizabeth, Grace and Lucy Elliott of Schuylerville; Mrs. Thomas Fitzgerald and Mrs. Elizabeth Fitzgerald of New York city, Mrs. Arthur Howland of Mechanicville, Mrs. Harry Green of South Glens Falls, Mrs. Frank Wallace of Poughkeepsie and Mrs. John Ryan of Victory Mills. There are numerous grandchildren.
