Dorothy Jane Whiteman Arnold Dorothy Jane Whiteman Arnold, 86, Holden, passed away Sunday, August 8, 1999, at her home. She was born Wednesday, July 9, 1913, in Denton, Missouri, the daughter of Sherman R. and Frances E. Bryson Whiteman. She married Francis H. Thomason, in Leeton, Missouri, he preceded her February 14, 1967. She later was married to Ed Turpin and Wilbur Arnold. Mrs. Arnold had worked at the Dunhill Shirt Factory in Holden and later at Wal-Mart in Warrensburg where she retired in 1975. She was a member of the former New Liberty Presbyterian Church in Denton and the Holden VFW Auxiliary Post #5844. She is survived by one daughter, Rosann Ferguson, Holden, Missouri; one son, Glenn Thomason and wife Deloris, Holden; one grandchild, Brian Thomason, Holden; four sisters, Margaret Olson, Holden, Cora Thomason, Warrensburg, Dolly Lyman, Kansas City, Missouri, and Opal Talley, Holden; and one brother, Marvin Whiteman, Kingsville. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Arwood, and three brothers, Claude, Forest (Toots) and Bill Whiteman. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at 11:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden. Pastor Carl Rea officiated. Organist Mrs. Catherine Roberts, accompanied vocalist Mrs. Virginia Thurman. Pallbearers were Leon Whiteman, Russell Arwood, Larry Arwood, Dale Talley, David Whiteman, Darrell Whiteman, David Whiteman, and Terry Whiteman. Honorary pallbearers were Raymond Carson, Dr. James S. Garrett, Bill Golladay, Gene Ferguson, Jack Turpin, Russell Raber, Clarence Skidmore, and Kerry Kephart. Internment was at Holden Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leon Whiteman, Russell Arwood, Larry Arwood, Dale Talley, David Whiteman and David Whiteman. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Whiteman, Terry Whiteman, Raymond Carson, Dr. James S. Bryson Whiteman. She had worked at the Dunhill Shirt Factory in Holden and later at Wal-Mart in Warrensburg before her retirement in 1975. Mrs. Arnold was a member of the former New Liberty Presbyterian Church in Denton and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary 5844 in Holden. She had lived in western Johnson County most of her life. On April 17, 1936, in Leeton, she married Francis H. Thomason, who preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1967. She later was married to Ed Turpin and Wilbur Arnold. Survivors include a daughter, Rosann Ferguson, Holden; a son, Glenn Thomason, Holden; four sisters, Margaret Olson and Opal Talley, both of Holden, Cora Thomason, Warrensburg, and Dolly Lyman, Kansas City; one brother, Marvin Whiteman, Kingsville, and one grandson. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Arwood; and three brothers, Claude Whiteman, Forest "Toots" Whiteman, and Bill Whiteman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Williams Funeral Chapel, Holden with Pastor Carl Rea officiating. Burial will be in the Holden Cemetery.
