Russell N. Cook, 88 of 41411 S.R. # 558 Leetonia, Ohio, passed away at 1:15 pm on Monday, May 24, 2010 at his son's residence from complications of a stroke. Mr. Cook was born on May 18, 1922 in Fairfield Twp., the son of Harley and Bula Baker Cook.

Russell was a dairy farmer owning and operating his own farm Midway Crest Farms since 1946. He specialized in registered Holstein cattle. Mr. Cook was a member of the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. He served as an army engineer technical Sgt. in Company C 1394th Engineers Construction Battalion in W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre. Russell was a member of the State and National Holstein Association and the Columbiana County Farm Bureau.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death on August 26, 1988, by his wife the former Vera V. Ward. They were married January 2, 1943. He is survived by a son Ronald (Linda) Cook of Leetonia, a sister Mrs. Odessa Farmer of Leetonia; two grandchildren, Kelli (Mark) Harding of Columbiana, Kevin Cook of Leetonia; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan, Ben and Jon. Russell was preceded in death by a brother Orel Cook of Columbiana.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Namy and Rev. Charles Ready officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3 and 7-9 pm Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana.

The family suggests that material contributions be made to the East Fairfield United Methodist Church, 45675 S.R. # 558, New Waterford, OH 44445.
