|Death: ||Oct. 23, 1923|
The mother of the deceased died of the influenza when he was but 5 months old and he was raised by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander B. Kidd. He is survived by his grandparents, father and 5 brothers and sisters, Earl 18, Thales 16, Mable 14, Ben 12 and Fern 9, who are called to mourn his untimely end.
Funeral servies were held at the Ashley school house at 12 o'clock Thursday, Bishop e. a. Cramer presiding. The opening prayer was offered by N. G. Sowards. The speakers were C. a. Hardy, John N. Davis and Bishop Hyrum B. Calder of Vernal First ward, who spoke words of consolation to the bereaved father, brothers, sisters and grand parents.
With Miss Alice Olson at the piano, the Ashley ward choir sang "O, My Father", "Bright, Beautiful Home" and "Nearer My God, to Thee". Miss Eva Peters sang "Your Sweet Little Rosebud has Left You." The house was packed with sorrowing friends. The decorations and flowers were beautiful. The pall bearers were boys from the school. Interment was made in the Vernal cemetery.
The father of the boy has, since the death of his wife, worked in every way to hold his family together and the sad death makes the burden all the harder to bear. The departed was a most beautiful child and the very picture of health. The Express joins with all in expressing sympathy to the bereaved at this time...
