He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gordon was an Electrician Instructor at the Nashoba Valley Technical High School for many years until his retirement and also worked as a Volunteer Firefighter in Westford. He was a dedicated teacher and a positive influence on his students throughout the years.
During his tenure, Gordon coached Hockey at both Nashoba Tech and Chelmsford High, earning status with the M.I.A.A. in the Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002. He also founded Westford Youth Hockey in the 60s and he was the founding member of the Merrimack Valley Youth Hockey League, bringing the sport of hockey to thousands of Merrimack Valley children.. In his free time he was an avid sailer, having sailed the East Coast and earning Navigator's Rating. Gordon was also a member of the Merrimack Valley Power Squadron and a member of the Boston Navigators Club.
