Anita married Robert Max Frye, Sr. on March 4, 1944, and had two sons, Robert Max, Jr and William Allen, and a daughter Linda Lee Welch.


Anita (Griggs) Frye, 80, St. Joseph, died Friday, March 30, 2001 at her home.
Mrs. Frye was a teacher for the St. Joseph School District for eighteen years. She began her teaching career at Edison Elementary in 1964. She also was an English teacher at Lafayette High School. When she retired, she was teaching history at Central High School. She attended teachers college in Maryville, MO. and received her bachelor's and her master's degree in education from Northwest Missouri State University. She did post-graduate work at the University of Cincinnati.
Born in Polaski (sic - Pulaski), Tenn., on June 6, 1920, she was a resident of St. Joseph most of her life.
She was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school; she was active in American Red Cross, specifically the Aquatic Program. She was a member of the Young Republicans and was a former member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
On March 4, 1944, she married R. Max Frye. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her parents, Cardwell W. and Mattye Griggs.
Additional survivors: two sons, Robert Max, Parkville, Mo and William A., Columbia, Mo.; her daughter, Linda L. Welch, St. Joseph, Mo.; two sisters, Alice G. Coe and Mary Ann (sic - Marianne) G. Smith, both of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Service: 7 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Services, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Frye has been cremated. Memorials may be made to Missouri State Elk's Association, Dental Unit, c/o Galen Marr, 404 Hallake Rd., Warrensburg, Mo. 64093.
