Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Elizabeth Rowe Dove will be held Friday at 5 p.m. at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Claude McIntosh.
Active pallbearers will be H. Clifton Lewis, Joe Berry Jr. Dr. A. F. Burnside Sr., Dr. O. B. Mayer, H. J. Brabham Jr., Maj. E. J. Steckel. Olin Kinsler and Parks Law.
Mrs. Dove, widow of W. Banks Dove, a former Secretary of State of South Carolina of 330 S. College Ave., Newton, N. C. died Wednesday in Catawba Hospital in Newton.
She was born in Newton, a daughter of the late M. Julius and Camilla Herman Rowe.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marion Dover English of Newton, two sons, Dr. Herbert R. Dove of Columbia, and William Banks Dove of Miami, Fla., two sisters, Miss Mildred Rowe and Mrs. W. R. Weaver, both of Hickory, N. C., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dove was active in civic work in Columbia and a graduate of Catawba College.
She was an accomplished musician and artist. She and Mr. Dove was interested in higher education, and both taught in night school.
For many years, Mrs. Dove was a member of the First Presbyterian Church prior to moving to North Carolina.
Her husband died in 1924, after having been reelected secretary of state, served 16 years prior to his death.
