He was of the Dr. Thomas Curtis of Wethersfield line, being the son of David Curtis and Abigail Woodruff. He and family went from Litchfield County, CT to Augusta, Oneida, NY ca 1797 where he was vry active in the Augusta Congregational Church which kept excellent records.

Family records and Dr. Seth Hastings (also from Litchfield Co, CT) state that he died in Greece, NY in August 1829. His son David was living there with his wife Wealthy Dewey who also died there in 1832 of cholera.

It is not known where Joshua was buried. It is not known either where his daughter-in-law Wealthy was buried, so for now I am creating this memorial for the purpose of linking as many of his children as I can find here at FAG. He wife was a Sarah, and it is not known where she died and was buried. Several contemporary genealogists claim she was Sarah Hurd, daughter of Peter Hurd. It has been proved by land and probate records that the Sarah Hurd, daughter of Peter and Sarah Hurd, was the wife of Joshua's older brother David. After his death she remarried Michael Hinman as his second wife, and they too went to Augusta.
