Sidney A. (John)Dodd, 71, 2515 Brown St., died early today at St. John's Hospital after being taken there in the city emergency ambulance. He died suddenly but had been in failing health for some time.
Furviving are: a son, Robert F. Dodd, Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Barnhizer, Lapel, and Mrs. Annie Stephenson, with whom he made his home at the Brown St. address, and several nieces and nephews.
The body was taken to the Brown and Butz Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Funeral services for Sidney A. (John) Dodd, 71, 2515 Brown St., who died early Thursday at St. John's Hospital, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Brown and Butz Funeral Home.
The Rev. Phillip Philbrook, pastor at the Meadowbrook Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Brookside Cemetery at Lapel. Friends are being received at the funeral home.
Mr. Dodd was born May 14, 1888, in Buchanan, Va., and was the son of Charles Edward and Elizabeth Jane McCool Dodd. He came to Anderson from Lapel 40 years ago. He formerly was employed as a glass blower. Mr. Dodd was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are; a brother, Robert F. Dodd, Anderson, and two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Barnhizer, Lapel, and Mrs. Annie Stephenson, Anderson.
