Dies At 66


Funeral services for Clifford B. Barnes of Carpenter community north of Elk City, who died in Mercy hospital in Oklahoma City Monday, will be conducted from the Eastside Baptist church Thursday, March 21, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Ivey of Hammon, Rev. Walter Jolly, Elk City, and Rev. Joe Seacrist of Lawton, officiating. Burial will be in the Kiowa cemetery near Hammon with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barnes was born Sept. 11, 1913 in Elk City. He was 66 and a lifelong resident of this area. He had been ill for several months. He was a livestock and horse dealer.
Survivors include his wife, the former Naomi Thomas, who he married Dec. 15, 1934, at Hammon;(sic) a son, Dale Barnes of Clovis, N.M.; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Bolding of Lawton; 6 grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Epp Barnes of Elk City; 2 sisters, Mrs. Angie Faye Gass, Hammon, and Mrs. Ruth Ball of Gravette, Ark.; and 2 brothers, Bob Barnes, Chickasha, and Herman Barnes of Oklahoma City.
